Hose Couplings

Introduction: RYCO Hydraulics manufacture hose couplings in many different styles and sizes to match each RYCO hose series, with a wide range of thread and connection types. Hose Couplings must be carefully matched to the hose. When the hose for an application has been selected, it is crucial that the couplings to be fitted are designed specifically for that hose. DO NOT MIX / MATCH HOSE AND COUPLINGS FROM DIFFERENT MANUFACTURERS. It is critical that the hose and coupling manufacturer are the same and that they are assembled using the manufacturer's recommended equipment, components and procedures. Please visit RYCO’s coupling section for more information or...

Hose Couplings can be divided into two types:

1. Field attachable Couplings: Attached to the hose using commonly available hand tools. Push-On Hose Couplings and Suction and Return Hose Couplings are often classed as Field Attachable couplings as they require no machinery to fit them. 2. Crimp or Swage Couplings: Permanently attached to the hose using a crimping or swaging machine.
Affixing a RYCO field attachable coupling to a RYCO Hose. The female ferrule is pushed onto the hose and clamped in a vice or held with a spanner. Then the threaded male insert is screwed into the ferrule and hose to fix it securely.
Affixing a RYCO crimp coupling to a RYCO Hose. With a one piece coupling, the complete coupling is pushed onto the hose the specified amount. The hose and coupling assembly is then placed in a RYCO crimping machine and the ferrule is crimped or pressed onto the hose a predetermined amount specified in a crimp chart. The two piece crimp coupling is attached simmilarly to the field attachable coupling, but instead of screwing the insert into the ferrule, the ferrule is crimped in a RYCO crimping machine as with the one piece coupling.
